Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about collecting COIs, reviewing compliance, and getting started with Bolt COI.

Getting started

Who is Bolt COI for?

Bolt COI is built for motor carriers, brokers, limo networks, and affiliate programs that need to collect certificates of insurance, track expiration, and vet third parties before dispatch — without forcing carriers to create accounts.

Can I start on the free tier?

Yes. Free includes up to 25 third parties, one admin seat, magic-link COI upload, human review, and in-app expiration tracking — no credit card required.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. You can create an organization and start collecting COIs on the Free tier immediately. Paid plans are optional when you need AI parsing, more seats, or higher limits.

What workflows does Bolt COI support?

Organizations choose a workflow type at setup — for example motor carrier (trucking), limo, or affiliate networks. Document types, vetting rules, and FMCSA checks adapt to that workflow.

Collection & upload

How does magic-link upload work?

You send carriers or affiliates a one-time, scoped link. They upload COIs and W-9s from any device — no account required. Documents land in your review queue with extracted ACORD fields on paid tiers.

Can uploaders submit more than COIs?

Free tier supports COI collection only. Starter and above unlock platform document types such as W-9s, endorsements, operating authority, and MCS-90. Professional adds custom document types.

Do carriers need to install an app?

No. Magic links open in the mobile browser or desktop — uploaders pick files or use their camera. There is no carrier portal login.

Review & compliance

How accurate is AI COI parsing?

Starter and above use AI-powered ACORD extraction with confidence scores per field. High-confidence documents can auto-approve; edge cases route to your human review queue.

What happens when a COI fails review?

Bolt COI generates plain-language deficiency notes carriers can act on. You can request a re-upload with one click and track deficiency history per third party.

Can we keep human review on every document?

Yes. On Starter and above, enable Require manual review for all uploads in Settings → Organization to skip AI processing entirely. Otherwise, low-confidence or rule failures route to your queue while high-confidence matches can auto-approve.

Monitoring & campaigns

How does expiration tracking work?

Bolt COI monitors policy end dates across your roster and surfaces expiring and expired carriers in the compliance dashboard. Email expiration alerts are included on Starter and above.

What are collection campaigns?

Collection campaigns send renewal reminders and follow-up sequences to third parties who have not uploaded or whose policies are expiring soon. Carriers respond via magic link without logging in.

FMCSA & workflows

Do you integrate with FMCSA data?

Yes. For motor carrier workflows we pull FMCSA SAFER data to cross-check operating authority and insurance filings alongside uploaded certificates.

What is AB 1807 commercial auto vetting?

Affiliate organizations can enable AB 1807 checks so commercial auto requirements are evaluated alongside uploaded COIs and FMCSA records before vetting or dispatch eligibility.

Pricing & billing

What are the main differences between tiers?

Free covers manual COI review for small rosters. Starter adds AI parsing, platform document types, team invites, templates, email alerts, campaigns, and compliance exports. Professional adds custom document types and higher limits. Business scales to 500 third parties and 15 seats.

Can I cancel anytime?

Paid plans can be cancelled through billing settings. You keep access through the end of your billing period. Compliance report exports require Starter or above.

Do you offer refunds?

Paid subscriptions include a 14-day refund window for eligible charges. See our refund policy for full terms or contact us for billing questions.

Security & data

How is my data secured?

Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest. Magic links use scoped, time-limited tokens. Operator access is role-gated with audit logging, and MFA is available for accounts.

Where is data stored?

Bolt COI is operated by Aleksifa Digital. Infrastructure and storage follow our security practices described in the privacy policy, with encryption and access controls on operator and document data.
